What constitutes construction and demolition (C&D) debris?

Construction and demolition (C&D) materials consist of the debris generated during the construction, renovation, and demolition of buildings, roads, and bridges. C&D materials include concrete, brick, wood, metals, glass, insulation, home siding, roof shingles, and other building components.

What materials are accepted?

You can bring in waste from your home remodeling, demolition, landscaping or roofing projects. Specialty recyclable wastes, such as concrete, are also accepted. You can view the complete list of materials accepted at our drop-off facility here.

What materials are prohibited?

Hazardous waste, dirt (clean fill), industrial waste, chemical products, oil filters, herbicides & pesticides, radioactive material, solvents, paint, flammable liquids, aerosol cans, propane tanks, motor oil, transmission oil, lubricating/hydraulic oil, oil filters, contaminated oils (mixed with solvents, gasoline, etc.), antifreeze, petroleum contaminated soil/lead paint chips, tires, batteries, computers, monitors, televisions, microwaves, fluorescent tubes, railroad ties, medical waste, asbestos, animals, barrels, all liquids.

Can I cancel or change a roll-off dumpster order?

Yes, please have your receipt available and call us at 610-944-5250. All order changes must occur at least one business day prior to scheduled delivery.

Can I extend my roll-off dumpster rental?

Yes, if you are approaching your scheduled roll-off dumpster pick-up date and would like to extend your rental, call Berky’s at 610-944-5250 one business day prior to pick-up and you can extend your rental for $5 per day.

Can I use the same dumpster rental for multiple locations?

Yes, if you have multiple jobsites and would like to use the same dumpster, Berky’s will accommodate you. Berky’s will deliver to your first jobsite, and once you are ready, move the same dumpster to a second site. You will be charged a fee for the dumpster relocation, but this is typically less than the cost of a second rental. Please contact usfor more information if you are interested in utilizing a single rental for multiple jobsites.

Do I need a permit for a roll-off dumpster?

Please check with your local municipality. Permits may be required, especially if you are considering placing the container on a street.

Do I need to schedule removal of my dumpster?

No, your dumpster will automatically be removed on or after your selected pick-up date. However, if you’ve finished utilizing your roll-off dumpster early, you can issue a pick-up request via the “My Account” tab or by calling the office at: 610-944-5250.

How long may I keep the roll off dumpster?

Our standard rental period is 14 days for residential orders and 30 days for commercial contractors. If you would like to keep your dumpster beyond this period, a rental fee of $5 per day will be applied.

How much will the roll-off containers hold?

You can place as much material as possible in your dumpster, but under no circumstance, even with light debris, can you fill your container in a way so that any material protrudes above the top of the dumpster. Additional weight charges will be applied after pick-up for 10, 20, 30, and 40 cubic yard containers. Further details on container dimensions are available on our roll-off dumpster page.

How should I prepare an area for roll-off container delivery?

A full roll-off dumpster can become very heavy, we recommend that the customer protect any surface where the roll-off is going to be placed with 4’ x 8’ sheets of plywood. It is also recommended that the customer supply wooden boards for placement under the dumpsters rollers, when necessary, to aid in weight distribution. It is recommended that you allow 4’ of clearance on all sides of the dumpster for accessibility.

My dumpster is only for roof shingles, is there a discount?

Sorry, but we no longer offer asphalt roofing shingle discounts!

What are possible additional charges on roll-off dumpster rentals?

Typical additional charges on dumpster rentals could be any of the following:
 Additional Tonnage: If a dumpster is collected with more than the dumpster’s allotted tonnage inside.
 Pick-and-Replace: If a pick-and-replace is requested on a dumpster rental, where a full dumpster is picked up and replaced with an empty dumpster.
 Additional Days: If additional rental days are requested on the dumpster rental.
 Damage: If the dumpster is damaged while on your job site.
 Prohibited Materials: If prohibited materials are found to be inside the dumpster.

What does the price include?

The price of a dumpster rental includes delivery and pick-up for the selected roll-off (including any applicable sales and local tax) and the agreed upon disposal allowance, for the rental period of 14 days for residential rentals and 30 days for commercial rentals.

What if my dumpster is full and I need another dumpster?

Please request a pick-up online or call 610-944-5250. When making your request, you will be given the option to replace the removed dumpster with another empty container.

What is a failed delivery or pick-up attempt?

A failed delivery or pick-up attempt occurs when a renter either fails to provide adequate delivery space to place the roll-off dumpster or fails to provide Berky’s access to pick-up the dumpster on their scheduled pick-up date. Examples could include a vehicle parked in front or near the dumpster, preventing pick-up. A $150.00 fee is charged if a failed pick-up/delivery attempt occurs.

If you need more rental time with the dumpster or need to change your delivery date, please call Berky’s at 610-944-5250 one business day prior to your scheduled pick-up to avoid a failed pick-up or delivery attempt.

Where do the contents of my roll-off go after it is picked up?

Your container will be taken to Berky's transfer station in Berks County, PA. There your debris is sorted and disposed of properly.
